The New York State Creative Aging Initiative, an innovative partnership between The New York State Council on the Arts, The New York State Office for the Aging, and Lifetime Arts launched during the middle of the pandemic concluded in February 2022. Lifetime Arts trained and coached staff members from 7 area agencies on aging and nearly 70 New York state based teaching artists to plan, design, and implement 14 remote creative aging programs throughout the state.

Chinese Brush Painting: Westchester County Department of Senior Programs and Services + Essex County Office for the Aging
This 6-week course will introduce participants to the fundamental concepts and techniques of Chinese brush painting. Learners will study and practice brushstrokes unique to this art form, mastering basic techniques which will allow them to develop their artistic expression.

What if you could document your life in pictures? What kind of stories would they tell? What would influence those stories? The workshop, “Mapping a Life in Collage,” will provide participants the opportunity to gain new tools for self expression and develop new frameworks for sharing and interpreting their experiences through collage.
