I teach art to older adults at HANAC Harmony JVL Innovative Senior Center, where we have a full program of watercolor, acrylic, jewelry, clay and stained glass, as well as at the Brooklyn Museum and privately, helping older adult artists with dementia create art. I have found that older adults need and benefit greatly from having the opportunity to create, learn new skills, socialize and discuss new ideas. We have formed a great community and they are learning new things and I learn from them as well. I love teaching all ages, but there is something special about teaching seniors and seeing how happy they are to learn something new and find that they are able to do things and create beautiful art, when they never knew they could.
