Susan E. Rosano, MA, is a Mosaic and Mural Artist with a Masters Degree from Wesleyan University. For the past twelve years she has worked as a Master Teaching Artist on the juried rosters of the Vermont Arts Council, Arts for Learning Connecticut, Life Time Arts in New York City and the State of Connecticut Commission on the Arts. Susan works with communities to create painted or mosaic murals that are related to school curriculums or that have current social and community themes. Susan’s murals grace the walls of schools, hospitals, libraries, museums and other public spaces around New England. She is an art professor at the Charter Oak State College, Connecticut and a credentialed Expessive Arts Therapist. Recently, Susan has created nine murals with parents and students at an elementary school in Newtown, CT with themes that include respect, friendship, hope and kindness; all are symbols of a community that is moving on from tragedy. Another one of Susan’s popular community arts projects called “Oil Drum Art,” consists of painting murals that make an artistic statement about environmental issues on recycled 55-gallon oil drums. She is an art professor at the Charter Oak State College and a credentialed Creative/Expessive Arts Therapist. Susan is also a mosaic artist, creating her own artwork at her studio in Guilford, Vermont.

I am experienced in teaching visual art and facilitating arts projects for self expression with people of all ages and needs. I am also a writer and poet who loves facilitating poetry and art projects with seniors. I especially enjoy taking favorite stories of seniors and incorporating those stories into art projects for the creation of legacy items. I feel that everyone should have the opportunity of recording their past in the most creative way possible. I am always so happy to be able to work with people in this realm. I am also able to create a training program for other professionals to work with terminally ill patients and their families to help them record important history from the patient's past or facilitate a family arts legacy project.
