2013-2014 Drover Senior Citizen Center, London, England I met with the printmaking class at Drover Center once a week for 2 hours over the course of the year. I was the teacher of the class and also provided many of the materials, either by purchasing them or “finding” them. The course included teaching: Collographs, Mononprinting,Silkscreen printing, Intaglio, Fabric printing. 2006-2009 Marymount Upper School, Manhattan, NY I was a technology teacher at Marymount High School for 3 years, teaching a full class load of students, grades 8-11. The curriculum integrated technology skills and subject content from Ethics, History, English, Science and Art History classes. 1997-2005 Ethical Culture Fieldston School , Bronx NY I was the Director of Educational Technology and coached teachers in their integration of technology. I also taught a fine arts class independently for 8th grade students. It was called Digi-Media class, introducing iMovie, Flash and Photoshop. 1984-1994 Artist in Residence through New York Foundation on the Arts I was artist in residence at multiple New York City Schools, integrating video art into curricular projects
I believe art is a life and joy sustaining activity that can be practiced by people of all ages. Seniors who have more time than working individuals should have access to the art tools and instruction that could enrich their lives. The rich experience of living a long life can also provide wonderful source material for making art.
