As an artist, instructor and professor for over 30 years, I bring an enthusiasm for art and meaningful experience into each class. Older adults often value my approach which incorporates hands-on practice into each session. The characteristics of my unique style include patience, encouragement, tailoring approaches to the student’s learning style, and integration of art history to peak interest. Specializing in drawing and painting has allowed me to explore and evaluate these two disciplines to gain a very thorough knowledge and experience. While most classes will introduce foundational skills, I am able to also provide more advanced methods for students who want more challenge. I truly enjoy sharing my knowledge and skills in art, and find older adults to be engaging and intelligent students. More often than not, older adults will have their own particular experience to share with the class and I not only allow for this, but approach it as an interesting opportunity. Another benefit I derive as an instructor to older adults is their ability to persevere while working on long-term projects. It is a refreshing contrast to our fast-paced, often distracted culture. My fee is $75-$100/hour.
