In this, the second and final year of the New York City Creative Aging Initiative, Lifetime Arts delivered nearly 20 free, in-person training sessions, networking salons and webinars to hundreds of NYC teaching artists, arts organization and senior center staff members.
These training events were designed by our Director of Education, Annie Montgomery, to not only share best practices in Creative Aging programming, but to encourage and facilitate the inclusion of cross-discipline learning and social engagement techniques.
For example, in October, Lifetime Arts’ Director of Education, Annie Montgomery, and Lifetime Arts Trainer, Antonia Perez, led this in-person training for teaching artists interested in SU-CASA residencies.
During this session:
- participants experienced and practiced a variety of non-invasive assessment exercises, feedback protocols, and social engagement techniques;
- worked in small groups to discuss and get feedback on program proposals; and
- shared successes and challenges from past residencies as a springboard to improve future programs and placements.
