I am a freelance theatre-maker, filmmaker and facilitator with a passion for empowering people through the use of the creative arts. I see no difference in my practice when working with other professional practitioners or within communities of all ages and abilities. In both formal and informal settings, I have developed a fine balance between the process and performance where each creative investigation allows myself, and any other participant to gain the tools to create, develop and present dramatic work, whilst also developing skills in communication, team-working, problem solving and evaluation. In my creative practice I often collaborate across art forms to tell stories of real people using puppetry, multimedia, physical performance and music to create work that is accessible, engaging and above all entertaining. My work is often described as being at the intersection between theatre, film and technology. Although I have performed my recent work my role as director and writer have mainly been at the forefront of both my professional and educational/community work. In recent years I have mainly produced one-to-one performance however I am currently developing several pieces of larger scale work for larger audiences with collaborative partners such as other performers, musicians and dancers. My most valuable and extensive work in the 55+ community was with the West Yorkshire Playhouse when I worked at the Outreach Facilitator working on one-off workshops, as well as long-term projects the encouraged the participants to create writing, performances and other theatrical elements.
