“ADVANCING CREATIVE AGING IN MARYLAND: CREATIVE AGING ARTS PROVIDER AND VENUE TRAINING”

As part of the “Advancing Creative Aging in Maryland: Creative Aging Arts Provider and Venue Training” initiative, the Maryland State Arts Council will expand their existing #mcreds Creative Aging Provider training, a 15-hour virtual course open to community teaching artists and arts educators, in addition to a new Creative Aging Vendor training, two biannual networking events, and an annual convening at the Maryland Arts Summit.

Professional development and program implementation support

Beginning November 2021, as part of the course, Lifetime Arts will train Maryland teaching artists and creative aging vendors in best practices in planning, designing, promoting, implementing, evaluating, and sustaining successful creative aging programming. The course includes a variety of synchronous and asynchronous activities, which will be led by Lifetime Arts and the Maryland State Department of Education. Lifetime Arts will also provide coaching and program implementation support beginning in January 2022.

Additional project details

The project also includes two 90-minute biannual networking events open to the 2020 and 2021 cohorts of the Creative Aging #mcred for Providers and Vendors. These events will include presentations by local, state and regional funders followed by artist showcases, speed dating and resource sharing. Finally, the project will conclude with the Maryland Arts Summit, a preconference at the annual statewide conference which will convene the entire arts sector, including education, tourism, health, public art and more.
