I am an artist and an art educator trained at Pratt Institute,Hofstra University, Hunter College, and New York University with many years of teaching in a variety of media on the elementary, high school and college levels. I was director of visual art and arts-in-education at Henry Street Settlement where I developed initiatives, supervised teaching artists in the visual and performing arts ,and oversaw an exhibition program, an instruction program, an artist in residence program ,and a summer arts day camp. I worked with public schools in integrated arts and learning programs and provided arts experiences for adult Settlement participants in the senior, mental health, and womens’ shelter programs and participated in many art education retreats, conferences and workshops within the art education field regarding evaluation, development, planning, partnering, and other issues important to the arts and the wider educational community. Since Henry Street, I have been working in both artists books and collage and exhibiting regularly in galleries, art centers, and museums. For the past five years, I have been teaching collage/mixed media to adults and seniors concentrating on developing mastery, and personal expression. I am also on the board of directors of Elders Share the Arts as the teaching artists representative.

I greatly enjoy teaching older adults over the past five years and view it as a real integration of my own art practice in collage with my educational training ,and experiences at Henry Street Settlement, a community organization. It has been inspiring to see the power of the arts to transform lives of people who previously had little or no access to creative endeavors. I would also like to work with teaching artists and senior center staff in a professional development and mentoring capacity to help the delivery of programs for older adults.
