Providing creative outlets for our older community is integral to the happiness and well-being of the individual and for the betterment of our community and culture overall. My experience working with senior communities has taught me there are very intense emotions older communities experience on a regular basis (be it loneliness, sickness or death, or simply the beauty and magnitude of generations they have had a hand in creating), that pine for a creative outlet. Often times, sickness or disability limit the opportunity to express these emotions socially but creative and artistic expression can provide an individual sense of emotional solace, accomplishment, independence and also, documentation of stories that may not have otherwise been heard. I feel very passionate about respecting and caring for our elders and someday hope to build my own creative arts paradise for older persons complete with theatre, visual art, music and dance. I have always found personal gratification and significance inspiring creative expression in those who undoubtably always inspire me right back.
