After 20+ years as a clothing designer, I went back to school and earned an MFA in Painting and Drawing. I had taken many painting, drawing and mixed media classes for fun over my lifetime, and I wished to follow in the footsteps of the wonderful teaching artists that I had learned from. The classes were fun and the teaching artists seemed to enjoy them, too. I have taught painting, drawing, mixed media, collage, and jewelry making at senior centers, recreation departments , schools and colleges. As a lifetime learner myself, I really enjoy sharing what I have learned with others. I particularly enjoy teaching loose, expressive,colorful, representational painting in watercolor, acrylic, or oils. My own artistic practice is inspired by the natural world- landscapes, flowers, and animals in a semi- representational style. Older adults are great to work with. They bring so much life experience to the table and really get into the process. Their enthusiasm and passion are genuine. They have longer attention spans and more to say than at other times of life.  It is very satisfying to teach visual art skills and techniques to folks while enjoying their company and knowing they look forward to creative, expressive,social art classes amongst new friends.
