I believe that engagement in the creative process and the ability to express one's feelings through art is empowering and fulfilling. As an artist, and teacher skilled in a variety of media, my mission is to share my experience and knowlege with my students. I seek to encourage, nurture and help them develop their own ability through experimentation and practice. My experience with seniors began in 1997 when I was fortunate to be an intern at ESTA (Elders Share the Arts) an agency dedicated to creative aging. ESTA provided me with opportunities to participate in professional development workshops, work in schools and community centers and collaborate with performing artists. My specialty is fine arts, and the workshops often involved theater games as a means of building trust and community. I encourage storytelling and memoir which lend themselves to creative expression in watercolor, bookmaking and collage. Elders continually inspire me with their spirit and the wonderful art that they create from their life stories.
