As a teaching artist I like to foster a nurturing climate, where taking chances and exploring new/different visual experiences are encouraged. I enjoy inspiring older adults to discover their own talent for creating art. It gives them a sense of accomplishment and self worth. I believe each person can tap into their creative potential by learning the techniques. It is my desire as an educator to give these older adults the tools with which to cultivate their own creativity. I enjoy interacting with older adults and learning from them, such as their viewpoints and stories about their lives and the skills they have developed over the years. I also like being with people who are appreciative and truly want to learn. I studied figurative painting with Robert De Niro, Sr. and abstract painting with Minero Kawabata at the The School.for Social Research. I studied sculpture in the south of France through Sarah Lawrence College as well as at the Brooklyn Museum Art School. As a high school teacher, I taught for 31 years in the NYC school system. As a Business Consultant I worked with older adults at General Electric Capital Corp., CitiCapital, New York Law School, Pace University, etc. Presently, I am president of a small not-for-profit organization called 14 Sculptors, Inc. I organize outdoor theme sculpture exhibitions with different municipalities in the metro area and present these shows in their local parks. I am presently exhibiting my work at NYC’s Highbridge Park, Amsterdam Avenue & W. 172nd Street.
